Ah, I love this time of year when there’s a breeze in the air, and you finally dress in your favorite sweaters. I just love fall. Between the pumpkin spice lattes and pumpkin patches, it’s just the best. However, for us type B girlies, it can be a rough ride planning our outfits for fall events, like going to the pumpkin patch with our friends. You might question: what does one even wear to a pumpkin patch? What’s the dress code? Are shorts a no-go this time of year? Add brown shorts and brown knee-high boots, Chelsea boots, pair with a Longchamp-inspired bag and your favorite beverage.

Coquette meets autumn look

This look is for the comfy girls that still want to look girly. To recreate this look, pair an oversized button-down white sweater with a blue unraveled scarf, loose leggings, loose leg pants, and the accessories are the star of the look. This look is perfect for a pumpkin patch. To recreate this look, pair high-waisted flared denim jeans, add a wool knit brown sweater, Ugg boots, and, to accessorize, a satchel bag, and put your hair in braids. 

The basic but effortless look

Trench coats have been a comeback this year, but they have been reinvented and no longer have the Sherlock Holmes or suspicious detective vibes. And honestly, I’m relieved. Girls, I’m afraid the time of year is back where most of us dread- you’ve guessed it- back-to-school season is here. It’s a busy time between workload and classes; the last thing you want to worry about is your nails.

With that being said, having a cute set of nails brightens the dullest days, so if you’re lacking nail inspiration, you’ve come to the right place, my friend. Below are 20 nail ideas ranging from illustrative designs to Y2K patterns

Classic French manicure

Ah yes, the classic French manicure is one of my favorites for a multitude of reasons. The main reason is that it’s super easy to recreate at home. All you need is a little patience and perhaps a good YouTube tutorial. This would look amazing paired with honestly any back-to-school outfit, no matter your aesthetic. 

Pink tip manicure

  

If you were to modernize a classic manicure, a great way to do that is to add a pink tip on the top of the nail instead of a classic white shade. And there you have it, the ultimate clean girl nail look, which would be an amazing accessory to your back-to-photo shoot, girls.

Okay, so now the classic but rather basic nails are done and talked about. Let’s move on to the more back-to-school-themed nails.

Memo pad-inspired nail look

There is something so quintessentially academic about a classic memo pad notebook. So why not paint them on your nails? I mean, it’s giving studious after all. To recreate this, all you need to paint is a base shade of light white and add a tiny stroke to create the notebook lines in red. And there you have it; finish with a top coat, and there you go- the perfect academic nails.

Oftentimes when we think back to school, we think of the tools that come with us. The pencil design is really the cutest. To recreate this look, you’ll need a fine-nib nail brush and some creative flair. Add a cream-colored base coat, add a rectangular shape in bright yellow, add a rectangular shape to the top of the rectangle, add a smaller rectangle for the nib, repeat three times until you get a cohesive pattern on both nails.

ABC teacher nail design

This look is perfect for the teachers out there, or perhaps the teacher’s pet. To recreate this design, you’ll need to add a base coat of taupey pink to the nails using a nail brush, and add your detail brush, adding ABCs in block capitals in red, add a heart shape to create an apple, and a leaf shape for the greenery on the apple. Add a heart, add stars and hearts, and repeat this until you reach the end of both hands.

Illustration-style doodle nail design

 If you’re an artist or an illustrator, this design could be for you. To recreate this look, add black colors for the shape you want to represent. Add block colors. For example, a heart for an apple in red, a triangular rectangular shape for a pencil, etc., and then outline with black to give it an illustrator style. 

Soft feminine nails 

Okay, these nails are quintessentially 2026 in my books. Everything from the color combo to the pattern is just a chef’s kiss. To recreate these nails, add a base coat of muted baby pink, add a stencil to recreate the tip where you alternate the colors between pink and brown. Add details with a tiny brush, and there you have it, the perfect accessory to an unforgettable outfit.

Blue dream nails

Nothing screams summer like the color ocean blue. So if this is your last summer nail set of the year, let it be a good one. To recreate this look, add a clear base coat to the nails, add a stencil for the tip of the nails to create the stripes and polka dots using a fine liner brush.

Whimsy girl fashion nails

So much of our nail choice is based on our identity, especially in school. If you’re more goth, you might have slightly emo nails. If you’re girly, pink nails are the ones. What I’m trying to say is these nails shape our identity. Anyways, these whimsical nails are for the girly, the slightly esoteric whimsical girls. If you want to recreate this look, add a baby pink base coat, French manicure tape to the tips of your nails, add stripes, swirls, and then polka dots, and I promise you’ll be whimsical. 

French manicure nails with a twist

These nails are especially perfect if you’re a Mean Girls fan. To recreate this look, follow the same steps that you need to recreate the French manicure. On one nail, add a messy, kissy lip. You can create this with a fine-tip nail brush and tapping, and at the top of the shape, leave space at the bottom, a gap at the bottom of the heart shape, and there you have it: the perfect kissy lips glam nails. 

Glam girl accent nails 

These accent nails are the perfect showstopper if you want to impress the girls on the first day back to school. To recreate this look, add a base coat in a pink, pearlescent white shade, use nail shaping clay to create accents, and honestly, the more the better. 

Stargirl nails

This nail set is subtle but still aesthetic. 

The Stargirl motif is really a hit this year. To recreate this look, add a base coat of glitter pink nail polish, use a detailed brush to create stars; to create a star, add five strokes that meet in the middle, then flash out the middle slightly. 

Shabby chic nails

These nails are giving shabby chic, love fancy shack vibes, and I’m here for it. To recreate this look, add a varying base coat of white and nude, and add pearls too. Some nails in floral hydrangeas, the other nails and the middle finger, and there you go, you have it, the perfect nails.

 If you’re looking for a fun pattern nail design, these checkerboard nails might be the one to recreate this look. Add a base coat in different neon colors, create square shapes in alternating colors, for example, red squares, then a pink square, then a red square again until you fill up your entire nail bed with this design. Repeat on every nail in different colors. 

School bus motif nails

When we think of going back to school, we usually think of a school bus, so why not paint it on our nails? To recreate this design, add apples, pencils, and a school bus in block colors, and then outline with a black polish and add detailed brush strokes.

For the cherry on top, a cute strawberry hat you can create with needle felting. What you’ll need to create the strawberry hat is a berry, a red-colored green felt wool berry hat. Add green for the stem with needle felting, and add white to create the seeds for the strawberry. And there you go, an easy DIY that looks super impressive.

Girls, it’s that time of year when we prepare to go back to school. For most of us, this brings up mixed emotions. Some of us love it; others hate going back.

It can be a really stressful time between saving money and doing reading prep. Not to mention, what are you going to wear?

You are overwhelmed, and it’s the last thing you want to think about. That’s where I come in to help you with this blog post. I have noted some style tips and outfit inspiration to help you ease the transition back to school. So girls, we’re gonna be cool this year.

The casual queen look

We tend to overcomplicate outfits, thinking our looks have to be nothing short of genius. However, this is not the case.

The casual look involves combining a few pieces you already have in your closet to create an elevated look.

Think basic staples: an oversized cardigan layered over a cropped tank top to recreate this look, gorgeous girls.

Pair your favorite light-wash flared pants with your plain white cropped tank top, and add a cropped yellow sweater if it’s a little chilly. You have a basic but impressive look. 

Brown is the moment, outfit

We all know neutral colors are in for 2026, but if they aren’t styled correctly, they can look like a hot mess. The way to go with styling neutrals is to go by the undertones; for example, ask if the item of clothing is a warm undertone or a cool undertone.

Pair like with like.

Don’t match a cool and a warm undertone, as the clothing will look muddy.

To recreate this look, pair a peplum skirt with a brown belt, add a cool-toned gray sweater and a cool-toned leather jacket, match the shade of the leather jacket to your boots, and there you go; you’ll be a cool girl.

Elena Gilbert meets Coquette

 If you’re a girl who grew up in the early 2000s or simply love The Vampire Diaries, Elena Gilbert’s look is for you.

Upon rewatching, one thing I noticed was Elena Gilbert’s hourglass figure. Although it’s probably mostly genetic, styling plays a huge role in achieving a snatched look.

Elena Gilbert wears low-waisted flare jeans, which accentuate her waist whilst elongating her legs. And the classic long babydoll style adds to the youthful aesthetic while showcasing her waist.

A mistake I see a lot of young girls make is that they wear crop tops and high-waisted jeans, which can distract you from your waist. I suppose the point I’m trying to make is to dress for your body type as well as your style.

Because girls, you are gorgeous and deserve to look your best. With that being said, to recreate this look, you’ll need a pair of low-waisted, flared or loose-leg jeans or baggy pants.

Add your favorite T-shirt; just make it slightly longer so you don’t have to violate the dress code. Add a huge crop sweater, and you’re Elena Gilbert ready to meet the Salvatore brothers. 

Double denim

 When in doubt, pull out the double denim, girls.

Why does it work so well, you might question. It creates unusual harmony; if you don’t know what visual harmony means, your look is given, girls.

To recreate this look, all you need is your favorite denim jacket and loose-leg denim trousers.

If you want to give that really bold effect, choose a brighter color denim, and there you have it. Pair with your favorite shoes, and you will be unstoppable this fall. 

Serena van der Woodsen-inspired look

Picture this: you’re spotted in Grand Central Station after your boarding school, looking effortlessly cool. If you want to be the cool girl this year, look no further than old masters, aka Serena van der Woodsen.

If you want to recreate her look, all you need is to use low-rise jeans, a suede jacket, and a neckbandana in a brown polka-dot pattern. Pair this look with your favorite combat boots, and there you have it. You’ll be the new IT girl in school.

Ballerina off-duty look

This look embodies what I imagine a ballerina would look like off duty.

When she’s out and about and taking breaks from dancing, it’s giving princess.

If you want to recreate this look, you’ll need to borrow your grandma’s pink sweater, or you’ll have to go to the thrift store to buy one.

Pair this with a polka–dot peplum top and oversized loose-leg light wash jeans, and the star of the show is the ballerina flats. For extra jazz, add your hair to a claw clip, and there you have it: instant ballerina vibes. The cozy, effortless look.

Y2K girly.

 Y2K has changed to more mob wife and vintage t-shirt style. This stuff encapsulates what I’m trying to say.

To recreate this look, take your favorite vintage graphic tee and pair it with straight-leg, t-shirt print pants, and add your favorite leather jacket and white headband, and you’re gorgeous.

Latte girl look

If a latte had an outfit, this would be it.

Pair your favorite loose-leg straight pants with a belt, and add a latte-colored top with polka dots, and there you have it: your latte girl. 

90s baby look

This look has the most it–girl vibes out of all of them, in my opinion.

I mean, just look at how aesthetic the peplum striped shirt is. And not to mention, these would be perfect with your favorite jeans. Such a lethal combo.

 Chill day in fall look

Some days fall can feel like winter; that’s why it’s good to be prepared and buy a few wintry pieces.

One of my favorite wintry pieces is definitely an off-the-shoulder white knit piece.

I mean, just look at the photo. It embodies classiness and elegance. Pair it with low-rise straight-leg and baggy jeans, and there you have the perfect look. 

Bohemian baddie look

This look is a chef’s kiss. I mean, come on, just look at the bandanas and the frayed texture.

It’s just giving a quintessential cool girl.

To recreate this look, add a bandana kind of pirate tie style, combined with brown flared loose-leg jeans and a cropped white top. It’s giving Dua Lipa vibes for sure.

The tomboy comfy look

There’s something so powerful about wearing clothes you’re comfortable in, physically and mentally.

This kind of look is probably when you fall asleep in a class, so let’s recreate it.

Add a grey oversized sweater, loose jeans, light jeans, and a red leather jacket, and your favorite chain. Add white and red trainers for an extra bit of spice.

Preppy girl in fall

Nothing screams back to school like preppy outfits. Think plaid skirts, oversized cashmere sweaters. That’s what I’m talking about when I say this. To recreate this look this year, add your favorite loose-leg jeans with an oversized brown sweater. Underneath the sweater, add your favorite oversized shirt, underneath add a suede blazer-style jacket, and there you go. The perfect layered look.

When it looks like a bunch of items were thrown together, it’s usually not the case.

If you were to look closely at this outfit, it has harmony and balance. What I mean by this is the layers are added to each part of the body.

For example, knee-high socks and a skirt and jumper to the torso. Shirt and jumper to the torso. Hence, girl, recreating the perfect outfit is all about balance. 

Old money outfit idea

The secret to embodying the rich girl old money look is being an expert at crafting outfits of boring pieces. This outfit is a classic example of what you would describe as no piece of this outfit is too loud. But they all seem to work together to create a cohesive outfit. To recreate this look, borrow your boyfriend’s shirt, add a mini black skirt, tights, and longline Chelsea boots. Pair with your favorite sweater and you’re set. 

A downtown girl look

This outfit has the same concept of the old money look, aka it involves pairing an oversized sweater and shirt together, making sure the jumper is slightly shorter. But instead of a skirt, pair this look with mid-rise flared jeans, and there you have it. You’ll be Rachel Green.
