Introduction
At last, Thanksgiving is here, aka the season of giving family time, and rest from the corporate world.
If you’ve clicked on this blog, you’re a dream Thanksgiving is probably the 1863 novel Little Women, surrounded by the chaotic March sisters in their little New England home. Any literary weird girl would tell you that that’s a dream, surrounded by handmade decorations and simple but homegrown meals; a simpler time of handmade floral garlands and pumpkins is what girls deserve this Thanksgiving, not the mass-produced junk of decor. So if you’re a sustainable queen,
I’ve created a list of 20-plus Thanksgiving decor ideas to inspire you that are so Little Women coded. So let’s get into the ideas, girls.
Jo March writer’s table mat

The first idea is so Jo March coded.
To create, a craft paper table mat that you can personalize with your own dreams, gratitudes, and ideas.
Amy March’s trinket dish

If you watch the film, you know Amy March is a certified artist. So let’s recreate something she would make. This leaf trinket dish would be perfect for the girls to serve their trinkets, full of whimsy.
To create this, you’ll need balloons, leaves, and Mod Podge. Add a layer of leaves on the top of your balloon and wait until they’ve dried, then peel them off.
Add a thick layer of Mod Podge on the other side, and you’ll have a perfect writing trinket dish.
Leaf name plates

If you’re a certified calligrapher or have lovely handwriting like Jo March, this might be the DIY for you to try. You’ll need dry leaves, gold paint, and thin-nib Sharpies. Coat your leaves in gold paint. Leave them to dry. Add the text of your family members’ first names, and you’re all set.
Many Blessings photo frame

The one thing about the March sisters is that they’re grateful for one another and the family they have. This frame gratitude list is so Jo March coded, and I’m in love.
To recreate this, you’ll need a frame, tea-stained paper that fits in the frame, window markers, and Sharpie. Add your gratitudes on tea-stained thick paper in neat handwriting. Once dry, place the frame, place in the frame and add white text with chalk window markers. That says Count your many blessings!
Fragrant clove oranges

Back in the 1800s, when the book Little Women was written, there weren’t many scented candles, so people had to become creative with how to make their room and home smell nice. This orange, clove, and cinnamon arrangement is both aesthetic and practical.
To recreate this, you’ll need large oranges, cloves, and cinnamon sticks. Place the cloves into the oranges by piercing them with their pointy side. Add in a woven bowl and you’ll add cinnamon sticks surrounding the oranges,
and you’ll have a lovely housewarming scent that gets rid of moths and flies and is also aesthetic. And Little Women-coded.
Gratitude Pumpkin

The March sisters love to incorporate nature with their decor. And this is no exception.
To recreate this, you’ll need white pumpkins and a Sharpie; add text to the pumpkin.
I’m grateful for, and a list of things you’re personally grateful to have.
Floral wildflower pumpkins
As pumpkin season comes to a close, the March sisters probably have many of ours giving them flowers. With so many flowers, they need to find creative ways to use them.
To recreate this, you’ll need mini pumpkins and flowers of your choosing. Cut and decenter the pumpkin.
Arrange your flowers as you please, and you’ll have a Little Women-inspired decoration.

Apple candle holders
Candles were an essential part of life for the March sisters. But with so many candles, you need a creative way to carry them. These apple candle holders are so cottagecore. I’m obsessed.
To recreate them, you’ll need large red apples and tea light candles. Use a serrated knife to scoop out and decenter the apple.
Add your tea lights to your apple and then you’ll have a Little Women-coded craft.

Give thanks embroidery linen sign

Embroidery was the it girl craft of the mid-1800s. So it’s no surprise the March sisters would embroider something for Thanksgiving decor.
To create this craft, you’ll need a large linen sheet, knitting thread, and some leaves for a cute accent. Begin by using a chain stitch. Add to embroider -Give thanks.
Add a line of knitting thread on either side of the give-thanks and add the leaves by poking a hole through the leaves and stringing them on the string.
Give Thanks stick decor idea

These would be perfect to break the awkward questions asked by Aunt Marge about who’s going to get married first. I can imagine Jo just putting them, just bringing them out whenever she gets asked a trivial question. To recreate this, you’ll need a jar and you’ll need chalk label and popsicle sticks and
Write with chalk, give thanks on the sticks. Write things you’re grateful for, and then you can discuss amongst your family why you’re grateful for the things you wrote. It’s a good icebreaker, especially in the March family.
Thanksgiving ornament wall decor

These Thanksgiving ornaments are what I’d imagine the girls would spend their afternoon making after the countless artistic pursuits. To recreate this craft, you’ll need cardstock.
Cut your cardstock into abstract ornament shapes like diamonds and circles, add vibrant paint, and use twine to attach them to your ceiling or wall.
Paper stars

If you’re wondering what Amy March did with the remaining paper from Jo’s manuscript, well, this DIY is the answer.
To recreate these, cut five long, pointed diamond shapes. Fold each diamond lengthwise down.
In the middle, arrange and glue five points together to create a star. And you’ll have a perfect star.
Paper garlands

This garland is so whimsical and playful at the same time. To recreate this garland, let’s be honest: Jo would have used it as a backdrop to one of her many plays.
You’ll need strips of colorful paper and sticky tape to create an oval shape with the strips and repeat this.
Attach one oval strip, then thread the other oval strip through, add sticky tape, and there you go. You have a perfect DIY
Thanksgiving paper crowns

The March sisters acknowledge that they are queens. So why wouldn’t they have crowns for one another?
To recreate this DIY, you’ll need festive leaves.
Begin with strips of cardstock large enough to wrap around your head. Add glue and coat the rim with leaves. Add Mod Podge, allow it to dry, and you’ll have the cutest DIY.
