Introduction
Girls it’s that time of the year when we drink more hot chocolate than coffee, you’ve guessed it it’s Christmas time.
Christmas time is one of these celebrations that can be hard to decorate for especially if your a weird girl.
Below I’ve created a list of 15+ weird girl Christmas tree ideas that aren’t basic. Because there’s nothing worse than when you’re decor doesn’t represent you as a person.
I’ve also created how to recreate these tree ideas at home.
Candy Land inspired tree

Every weird girl has a certain fascination with the word of every, everything sweet and cute, aka candy. Perhaps it’s because we are the sweetest people and like things that are similar to us, which may just be a stretch. If you want to create this candy-inspired tree, begin by adding candy-themed bubbles.
You can easily DIY if you’re crafty. Add lollipop plushies, add candy cane plushies, and cupcake decorations. Add a lollipop tree topper. Warning: your Christmas tree will look so delicious people might mistake the ornaments for candy.
The nutcracker-themed Christmas tree

Every certified weird girl I know has an obsession with the Nutcracker ballet. And I mean, it’s just so magical. Who can blame us? For me, it was the 2002 Nutcracker Barbie film that had me hooked.
So I love having a princess-themed Christmas tree; enough rambling. To recreate this tree, you’ll need a snow white or light grey tree. Add a layer of faux snow for extra ethereal vibes. Dress your tree with any angel, ballerina, or princess-related ornaments. They work perfectly. Add hanging ornaments, hanging snow globes, and champagne colored baubles for an extra magical flair.
Americana Lana Del Rey-inspired tree

This tree is so Lana coded, and I’m here for it. It’s giving old money, Americana vibes, and it’s perfect for anyone who’s slightly unhinged or has an obsession with the Lana aesthetic. The weird girls know what I’m talking about. To recreate this Lana-coded tree, you’ll need an all-American traditional tree. Add faux snow for a vintage look, and add ornaments and large duck egg blue and sparkly gold baubles. Add large red and duck egg blue bows that you can DIY at home with ribbon, and you’ll have the world’s most coquette tree on the block, I promise.
Shabby chic tree

Every weird girl has a style of home decor they love and always gravitate towards, no matter what age they are or what season of life they’re in. There’s just something so rustic about shabby chic for me. That’s why I love it. To recreate this shabby chic tree, you’ll need a regular coniferous real tree, as it is much more rustic. Add your favorite vintage postcards with wooden pegs. Add any vintage ornaments you have on hand. The more handmade they look, the better. Add faux florals and use ribbon to wrap around the tree as if it were tinsel. Warning: you might look like you have a LoveShackFancy-inspired tree. And that’s not a bad thing.
Flamingo tree

Weird girls have weird obsessions, and most of us are undiagnosed. So that means we have a weird obsession with birds. Whether it be robins or swans or even flamingos.
Birds are creatures that we all have, and they all have different kinds of wisdom and legends associated with them. Needless to say, this tree is a testament to that and a great conversation starter because we know us weird girls are awkward and mostly struggle with conversation.
Anyways, that was a lot of trauma. To recreate this flamingo tree, you’ll need a regular Christmas tree to add to the base. For along the top of the tree, aka the flamingo. Add a bottom base of an inflatable flamingo pool float as the tree. Add plenty of flamingo ornaments and hot pink ribbons and baubles in bubblegum pink for the cherry on top. Warning, this tree might be for the cherry on top; add ribbons. Warning: this tree might spark an hour-long conversation about various bird species.
Polaroid alternative Christmas tree.
As weird girls As weird girls know, we all have our own personal taste and home interiors, with that being said, we all love anything to do with ourselves. That reminds us of ourselves, i.e., a little strange and absurd. This Christmas tree wall Polaroid home decor idea is no exception. So let’s recreate it. To recreate this DIY, you’ll need tinsel in a dark green color that emulates the color of Christmas trees. Start with a slightly curved line of tinsel. Add wall-mounted tape to one of the ends and to the other end. Create a zigzag pattern that is almost falls on itself. Once you have the base, add fairy lights and Polaroids and your favorite weird girl of your favorite weird girl moments or just moments with friends. Add tiny red bows to your Polaroids, and you’ll have the most unique weird coded girl tree of the whole block, I promise.

Plant baby tree

If you live in a small apartment or perhaps just have your own room like myself, you know that you don’t have enough space for a large, statement, spectacular tree.
But you still want to commemorate Christmas with a little tree. So this one might be the one for you, especially if you’re a plant mom.
To recreate this, begin with a plant pot. Bonus points if it’s festive. Add your favorite faux plant in a tree shape and decorate with Christmas tree toppers of your choosing. The more weird girl coded, the better.
Mannequin angel tree

This tree is for the weird girls dash r into fashion. The concept of this trade is simple. Instead of a tray topper, add a mannequin shoulder-length jewelry display. Add um various baubles, florals, and sash around the bodice of the tree. Add angel wings and pearls, and you’ll have a tree that everyone will remember.
Cocktail umbrella table tree

Every weird girl loves quirky and different Christmas ornaments. If it is creative, us weird girls want it. To recreate this, um, lamination cocktail umbrella tree, you’ll need a tree-shaped light fixture.
Remove the bottom, remove the sticks from the umbrellas, using hot glue, stick them into place, and you’ll have the strangest Christmas tree on the block.
Christmas tree made of books

Another quirk us weird girls have in common is that we love a good book, which oftentimes means we have so many books that we don’t know where to organize them. This Christmas tree idea is perfect for us weird girls. So we have an excuse to buy as many weird girl books as possible.
So let’s get into the DIY. For this DIY, you’ll need a flat surface, such as a wall, to act as the support for the book tree. And, well, lots of books. Begin by organizing three large books at the bottom. And as you go up, the books will get smaller, meaning the tree shape will start to form. Add bobbly tassels and a tree topper on the top, and you’ll have a perfect weird girl Christmas tree.
The heritage Christmas tree

Weird girls love a good ode to their roots, aka where their beloved ancestors came from. So why not make a Christmas tree to commemorate them? To recreate this impressive DIY, you’ll need a hat from your culture. I’m Irish so mine would be a farmer’s hat. You could even do this with any sort of hat. Add the first hat to the base. Continue until you get to the top to create a cone shape. Add ornaments like faux snowflakes and, in my case, a Celtic motif. And you’ll have a wonderful conversation piece that will definitely distract your relatives from asking personal questions, I promise.
The football sport christmas tree

If you’re a fan of any particular type of sport, a fun idea is to create a cute Christmas tree with the props for that sport. For example, the balls of that sport. For example, baseball, basketball, or tennis are a few examples.
Once your tree shape is formed, add different twigs to the gaps and holly, and you’ll have a cute Christmas centerpiece idea. Warning: this might start a family feud about sports. I promise it’s worth the risk.
Wildflower Christmas tree

Girls, if you’re a fan of flowers, which most of us weird girls are, this is the one for you. As a girl who was a florist in particular, I might have some insight into how to create this DIY. For this DIY, begin by choosing a small real conifer tree. Add a variety of different flowers. The wilder, the better. Roses, lilies, gypsophila, and daisies work the best. Add weeds such as dandelions and branches to give the tree a more earthy, casual look.
Santa’s tree

Weird girls, this is the perfect one for you. This is wonderful for kids and your nieces or nephews, as Santa brings all the magic to Christmas. To recreate this tree, you’ll need a Santa mask, a Santa gown, gloves, and a tie and hat. Begin by dressing your tree in all the Santa gear. Add your favorite baubles, ornaments, memorabilia, and Christmas would be weird and magical.
Christmas tree on the stairway

It’s 2026 we don’t have to have traditional Christmas trees or even a tree at all. To recreate this tree, you’ll need a stairway. You’ll need cardstock, and that’s about it. Begin by tracing out your design and cutting your cardstock into long strips. Add the longest strip to the bottom as you go up. Each strip will get smaller add stars, and you’ll have the most alternative Christmas tree, I promise
