Mother’s Day trendy crafts tutorials that will make her day

It’s nearly that time of year again, when we spend hours trying to figure out what to buy our lovely mothers. If you’re like me, questions may be circling your head, like, what gifts can I possibly give someone who wants nothing or has everything?

Gosh, it’s a hard one to answer, but not impossible. With that being said, let this guide direct you to gifts she’ll actually want.

Gifts made from the heart are irreplaceable, so here are 15 homemade gift ideas for Mother’s Day

Hypoallergenic soap

If your mom has sensitive skin, hypoallergenic soap is the way to go.

What makes it different from other soaps

It is not loaded with stuff that will irritate your skin

These include:

Harsh surfactants, things like sodium lauryl sulfate, make soap bubbly and foamy.

Due to their cleansing properties, they strip away natural oils, which is obviously not a nice gift to give.

Ingredients you’ll need

• Soap base that’s melt and pour: ensure that it is unscented, as we are going to tackle that later

Gentle oil, think almond, jojoba, or olive oil

• Soap molds don’t have to be anything fancy; you can even use silicone cupcake molds

Microwave-safe bowl

• Large Spoon

• Calendula petals

So now that we know what we’re working with let’s get cracking!!

Step 1

Using a large cake knife, cut your soap base into small cubes. This is essential to make everything melt evenly.

Microwave for 20 -30 seconds, stirring every 10 seconds.

Be careful, as allowing it to boil will affect the texture.

Step 2

Add in your petals or oats; 1 teaspoon per bar should be sufficient.

Add ½ teaspoon of honey

Make sure you mix slowly to stop bubbles from forming.

Step 3

If you’re using essential oils like lavender or lemon, add a few drops. Note that less is more.

Step 5

Gently pour the mixture into molds, and tap gently to release any air bubbles.

Step 6

Take a step back and let that baby sit. Leave it to cool at room temperature for around 2 hours

Remember, don’t move the mold when it is setting.

Step 7

Wrap in cling film or parchment paper with a bow for an extra little touch

Personalized trinket dish

Clutter is a mother’s nightmare, especially when clutter turns into a tangled mess on a bedside table. This is why making a trinket dish is the perfect solution.

What you will need

•Air-dry or polymer clay

•Acrylic paint in two colors

•UV resin

•Curing lamp

•3 paint brushes in varying sizes

  • The way you prep the clay depends on the type of clay.
  • For me, I love using polymer clay. It’s a bit on the pricier side, but it’s much smoother and more malleable than other clays on the market.
  • Knead your clay by hand for 4 to 10 minutes.

  • Remember, the clay will become softer the longer you knead it.
  •  Once your clay is kneaded, use the bottom of a glass jar to create that dish-like shape you want it to be slightly curved at the top but still quite flat.
  • Next, put it in the oven for 15 to 30 minutes at 130°C or 275°F.

  • Once you have a paintbrush and two of your mom’s favorite colors, you can start to paint.
  • Paint the trinket dish in a more neutral color.
  • Once that has dried, paint your mother’s initials in the center of the dish; allow equal spacing between each letter.

  • Once the dish is fully cooled, use an old paintbrush to coat it in UV resin.
  • Pro tip: Use a toothpick to get rid of any bubbles.
  • Use a UV lamp to dry the resin. Once your trinket dish is coated in resin, now is the perfect time to cure it.
  • To do this, place it under the UV lamp for 1-5 minutes, depending on the thickness of the resin.

Rosette ribbon

Rosette ribbons are all the rage in 2026, and making them is a lovely afternoon event in my opinion.

Supplies you’ll need

Ribbon

(about 2-3 yards of 1-inch-wide ribbon)

  1. Gather your supplies

Steps to Follow

Measure the ribbon; ensure it’s very long, over a meter.

2. Fold each strip

into a loop on the cardboard circle as displayed in the video below; make sure to pinch the ends together and continue repeating this until the circle is formed.

Remember to start from the edge and work towards the center in a clockwork fashion.

3. Continue to add different varieties of ribbons, all with the same width or smaller, to create depth.

4. Create the tails; this is the fun bit.

Cut two even strips of ribbon and cut a V-notch at the bottom of both. Glue these with the hot glue gun to the back of the circle.

5. Design the inside of the badge with text

I used pink paint to write Best mom ever in calligraphy text. The world is really yours. Oyster, with this, the only thing to bear in mind is that it’s personal and special to your mother.

6. Now you have your beautiful 80s-inspired rosette; you have to add a pin to complete it. Using a hot glue gun, apply a small amount to the back and push the pin into the glue. Allow to cool for 10–20 minutes, and there you have the perfect rosette ribbon for Mom.

Embossed cards

Embossing is the new craze, and tbh I’m not mad about it. I love that the possibilities are truly endless for this art form.

The best thing about embossing is that most of the items you need you probably already have around the house.

Materials you’ll need for the embossed card

• Aluminum sheets or thin

• Wire in the same color as the metal or ribbon

•A pen

• Black paint to outline

•Paint brush

•Sandpaper

•Glasses

•Mask

•foam or fabric

• a design you’d like to trace

• double-sided tape

• White plain card and envelope

Step 1

Place your fabric or foam down on a flat surface.

Step 2

Cut out your metal foil to size using a pair of scissors. Be careful, as it is very sharp. If your metal is too shiny, a good tip is to sand it, using a medium-grit sandpaper. Ensure you have a mask and glasses on, as metal particles may get into your eyes or you may inhale dust.

Step 3

Trace your design with the pen by placing your design on top of the metal and adding pressure as you draw.

Once you’ve outlined it once, turn to the other side of the metal and smooth out parts to give it a more 3D effect.

Step 4

Turn your design around to the other side, where it is more 3D.

Use acrylic black paint to outline any lettering on the metal.

Be generous with the paint, wait 2 minutes, and use a paper towel to wipe it off.

Step 5

Leave to dry for 10-30 minutes, and use double-sided tape to tape it onto the card.

There you have it, a trendy card for Mom

Organic lipscrub

As winter comes to a close, we are left with many things, lingering seasonal depression and chapped lips. Let’s be real, girls, there’s nothing worse than having chapped lips, so why should our mothers have to experience them?

There’s something about making an exfoliating lip scrub that makes life feel more luxurious. Lip scrubs are effective because they exfoliate dry skin.

  • White sugar
  • Brown sugar
  • Coconut oil
  • Vanilla essence

So that’s it, guys.

I hope you found some inspiration on what to make your mammy for Mother’s Day.
